Standing there in my boxing pose, I felt the symbolism settle into my bones. Fists raised do not always mean aggression. Sometimes it means defiance. Sometimes it means solidarity. Sometimes it means, “I am still here.”
Relay for Life in Second Life has this beautiful, surreal magic. Under a sky that can shift from sunrise to starlight in seconds, we gather as glowing names and sculpted bodies, but the cause is achingly real. Behind every avatar is a heartbeat. Behind every outfit is a story.
Today, my look is a letter to survivors. To caregivers. To the ones still in the thick of it. The boxing stance is not about throwing punches. It is about holding them up, steady and ready, for anyone who needs an extra pair of gloves.
